Lulworth Castle • East Lulworth

This impressive 'castle' was built in the 17th century as a hunting lodge to entertain the aristocracy.

For centuries it was the family seat of the Weld family, and they remain the current owners of the Lulworth Estate. Sadly it is no longer a family home, having been ravaged by fire in 1929.  It has been partly restored, but remains empty of furniture and those things that make a place a home. The rooms that are open to the public display photographs of what how they appeared before the fire, and a staircase allows access to the roof.

Views from the top offer a fantastic opportunity to see the surrounding Dorset countryside and the military training ranges.
