7th Bn Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry

Robert was born in 1897 in Cornwall and enlisted in the army at Penzance. 

While fighting on the Somme he was gassed and transferred back to the UK, probably to the hospital at Wareham. On 5th July 1916 he died as a result of gas poisoning. Hecwas just 19 years old.

He is buried in Wareham churchyard. He is also named on a memorial plaque in his home village of Towednack, Cornwall.
