St Nicholas Church, Studland
Built on the site of an earlier Saxon church, this beautiful Romanesque building was constructed between the 1120s and 1140s.
It is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Myra, patron Saint of mariners. Very fitting, given the church's spot overlooking Studland Bay. It was once used as a seamark for sailors navigating the coast.
It is Grade I listed. The graveyard has several Commonwealth War Graves within it, plus a grave of a titanic survivor and that of William Lawrence, veteran of Waterloo!
